Synopsis

Detective Office 5 (D5) has a rich 60-year history of crime solving. Even among brilliant and strange detectives, "Detective 507" exceeds in his ability at code-breaking. One day, he receives from a Chinese man a code pattern he has never seen before. The fascinated 507 flies immediately to Shanghai. In there, many people contact 507, such as The Shanghai Mafia "Seiryu", a female professional club singer "Meilan", and a mysterious old "sniper". 507 becomes deeply absorbed in the dangerous work, and as he comes closer to the mystery, he uncovers a shattering truth.

About the Director

Born in Kyoto in 1957. His first short film, "Sleep So As To Dream (1985)", won international acclaim, and he became steadfastly known with the films like "The Most Terrible Time in My Life (1993)" and "Stairway to the Distant Past (1994)" featuring Maiku Hama, a detective. Not only does he write and direct, he also produced "A Forest With No Name (2002)". Once being a detective himself, Kaizo Hayashi has made numerous sleuth films. Whether it's writing, directing, or producing, he reminds us that every nightmare has a silver lining. His fascinating contributions to film have earned him many fans throughout Asia.
