About EPJ

EPJ (Entertainment Platform of Japan) is an exciting initiative aimed at fostering ties between the entertainment industries of Japan and the U.S. In order to reach our goal as an effective platform for bilateral, mutually beneficial business opportunities, the EPJ will promote the following six objectives:

Industry Research and Analysis:

EPJ researches and analyzes the current state of the content industry (i.e. film, anime, games and music) in the U.S. These reports will furnish a comprehensive understanding of America’s entertainment industry to both American and Japanese content companies.

Newsletter:

EPJ will update the website with Japanese entertainment news, in English, covering the most recent developments including the latest release of contents, new technology, production trends, events, etc. The listing of the recent news articles will be blasted to over 5000 industry professionals via newsletter.

Business Matching Support:

By accessing the EPJ’s database of Japanese and American content companies, we can help support and initiate business contacts between interested parties.

Trade Show Participation:

EPJ participates in major trade shows and conferences to create new business opportunities for Japanese and American content companies and to research the latest market trends. JETRO provides booth space for small to medium sized Japanese companies to organize meetings while at the show with prospective business partners. Some of the events EPJ participated in the past include:
-American Film Market (AFM)
-Game Developers Conference (GDC)
-South By South West (SXSW)
-Licensing International
-Anime Expo

Seminars and Symposiums:

For networking purposes and business information exchanges, EPJ will sponsor seminars and host a large symposium introducing Japanese entertainment content to the general public. “Show Biz Japan! Sneak Peak”, a film-screening event for Japanese independent filmmakers, is being held this year for the fourth time. The event has returned this year as “Picture Battle vs. Show Biz Japan” to give filmmakers the opportunity to pitch their ideas in front of judges and a live audience.

Establishment of a Committee:

EPJ formed a committee, consisting of executives working in the Japanese and American content industry, to discuss EPJ programs and management. The committee will liaise with counterparts in departments of JETRO Tokyo, METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry), and other organizations.
