BUNACO Co., Ltd. was established in 1963 in Aomori prefecture, which is home to large beech tree forests. Beech trees were long considered unsuitable for construction or furniture making because of their bendable quality. But after many years of trial-and-error development at the prefecture’s industrial research institute, the company successfully developed “BUNACO”, using thin beech wood “tape”.
BUNACO tape is used to create uniquely formed original wood products with pure color and translucent qualities. The tape is first coiled to make a base disk and then a form is pressed out, a waste-free process that is ecologically friendly. Exhibited at the event are creations in which the essence of over 400 years of porcelain-making traditions and techniques are instilled. The company aims to continue producing porcelain products that fit modern sophisticated lifestyles and also the restaurants and shops of today.
