Higashi-kagawa city in Kagawa prefecture is known as Japan’s glove-making capital, producing 90% of the country's gloves. RUBOA Co., Ltd. established in 1961, began as a glove maker utilizing refined leather cutting and sewing skills handed down over generations in the region, and is now a specialist producer of high-quality leather goods. The "hmny" line was jointly launched by Sotaro Miyagi, a product designer, and Hideyoshi Nagoya, the line's producer, with assistance from the Shikoku Bureau of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Under the line's concept, "simple, compact, high-potential", products feature stylish colors and thin compact structure. The product’s folding part is embossed in stripe patterns, matching it easy to fold and also resistant to wrinkles and deformations. "hmny" is aimed at maximizing the potential of "made-in-Japan" products through refined designs.
