Arita porcelain traces its roots to Japan’s Edo period (1603 to 1867). Refined over many generations, Arita porcelain has formed its own unique history, tradition and culture, and is closely associated with the development of Japan’s food culture.
Three local Arita porcelain makers and eight designers jointly established the “ARITA HOUEN" porcelain line, with the aim of reviving age-old porcelain making traditions and blending them with the sophistication of modern design. The line’s creators also worked to adopt new designs and methods, such as the “double structure” form, which has a hollow cavity, and delicately twisted shapes.
Exhibited at the event are creations in which the essence of over 400 years of porcelain-making traditions and techniques are instilled. The company aims to continue producing porcelain products that fit modern sophisticated lifestyles and also the restaurants and shops of today.
