SHOTOKU GLASS has been making glass products, including glassware, since its foundation as an electric bulb manufacturer in 1922. The firm has endeavored to make its contribution to protecting environment by producing its "e-glass series", which re-ues old fluorescent light tubes for materials, after safely removing mercury from them. SHOTOKU also switched its glass material to lead-free crystal, reflecting their concern over water pollution created in the glass production process.
