SHINDO Co., Ltd. is a clothing and materials manufacturer that has its headquarters in Fukui Prefecture. Its American subsidiary, SHINDO USA, INC. set up a ribbon showroom in New York nine years ago. A new showroom underwent a renewal opening in the Garment District in 2011.

The New York showroom is the U.S. base for the brand SIC (SHINDO ITEM CATALOG) that was developed by SHINDO. The company has showrooms in Paris, Tokyo, and Shanghai, as well. New York is the fashion center that leads the entire U.S. Many brands have creative offices in the Garment District, so the customers are mid-range to expensive apparel brands, bridal brands, and chocolate brands. SIC products are widely used, for example, as ribbons for dresses, casual wear, wedding dresses, lingerie, accessories (shoes, hats, bags, etc.), and gift wrapping.

At the 2011 renewal opening, the showroom was moved to the building next to where it had previously been in order to increase space. By updating the fixtures and furniture and reconsidering placement, they were able to display over 30% more products. In the showroom, more than 45,000 SIC items can be seen and touched using the variety of ribbon samples and sample books. SHINDO focuses on an environment in which customers can always look and touch, so the showroom is open to anyone without a reservation except in the case of special business meetings. Takahashi, the Operating Manager says, "The fashion world always works quickly and customers visiting the showroom are always in a hurry. We always make an effort to provide quick and appropriate products and services to these customers. SIC has a massive collection and the SIC concept is to quickly provide what the customer wants, considering various conditions, such as season, style, material, color, size, and price."
