2010 marks the 150th Anniversary of the First Japanese diplomatic mission to the United States and its enthusiastic reception in New York City on June 16, 1860. This samurai mission which arrived in San Francisco, stopped in Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia and finally visited New York was the first face-to-face cultural exchange between Japanese and everyday Americans and was one of the biggest spectacles of its time. In this regard interesting events are being prepared in NY.
