Groupon acquires Qpod to expand into the Japanese market
August 17, 2010

Groupon, the website that offers daily deals on local goods, services and events announced the launch of Groupon Japan via the acquisition of Japanese daily deal site Qpod. "We are focusing our people and capital on markets with the largest return on investment and these markets represent a tremendous global e-commerce opportunity for us," Rob Solomon, president and chief operating officer of Groupon, is quoted in a press release saying.

Underwriters Laboratories opens PV testing and certification facility in Japan
September 9, 2010

Underwriters Laboratories announced the opening of its testing and certification facility for photovoltaic (PV) equipment in Japan. "In addition to offering performance and safety testing services for PV equipment in Japan, the facility will provide technical support to Japanese PV equipment manufacturers as they develop their businesses and enter overseas markets," states a company press release.
