Points-based Preferential Immigration Treatment For Highly Skilled Professionals 

The points-based system that provides highly-skilled foreign professionals with preferential treatment started on May 7, 2012. Under the points-based system, foreign professionals who earn 70 points or more will be recognized as "highly skilled foreign professionals" and will be given preferential immigration treatment. Under this system, personnel of the companies selected for the Subsidy Program for Projects Promoting Asian Site Location in Japan, for which JETRO is secretariat, are given 10 points.


 

 
JETRO Seminar: How to Succeed in Japan's Technology Market

JETRO-Houston held its Japan Techology Seminars in Dallas and Austin on August 21st and 22nd inviting three distinguished speakers. Mr. Makoto Abe, JETRO's North American Information and Communications Technology advisor, gave an overview of the latest trends in Japan's ICT market and highlighted some of the emerging sectors. Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Managing Partner at IBTP, an international advisory firm, provided a summary of the Japanese government's initiative to promote the use of renewable energy in an attempt to diversify its energy base. Mr.Vijay Parmar, the President and CEO of ReZolt Corporation spoke from his experience of doing business in Japan to assert the many advantages of the Japanese market and the helpfulness of JETRO's services. Both seminars were co-hosted by the Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber in Dallas and Austin Chamber of Commerce in Austin, repectively, and received a lot of positive feedback from the participants considering entering the Japanese market.


 
 
 
JETRO Invites 9 Publishers from Around the World to the Tokyo Game Show to Meet with Japanese Gaming Companies 

With the goal of bringing foreign and Japanese game companies together, JETRO coordinated a buyer ("publisher") invitation program in conjunction with the Tokyo Game Show 2012 in Japan. Nine publishers were selected from five countries to meet with select Japanese companies seeking to promote their titles in overseas markets. WildTangent, PapayaMobile and Tahadi Games Media also appeared at a JETRO-organized game market seminar to demonstrate the latest in casual and social gaming in the world.
