Tesla Prepares First Shipment of Roadsters for Japan

On April 21, 2010, Tesla Motors prepared its first shipment of Roadsters for Japan. "Japan's a great market for us," said Ricardo Reyes, vice president of communications at Tesla Motors. "It combines the very best of automotive enthusiasm with an interest for innovation and high-tech." The company is currently looking at possible site locations for a store in Tokyo.

Solar company Tigo Energy gains JET recognition for volume sales in Japan
March 3, 2010

California-based solar company, Tigo Energy, has opened a Japan office and is launching its Maximizer Solution in the Japanese market. This solution--for utility scale, commercial and residential systems--"has achieved certification to UL 1741, CE Mark, a California Energy Commission (CEC) listing and now has necessary recognition from JET for sales in the Japanese market," states a company press release.

Game engine developer Epic Games opens new subsidiary in Japan

North Carolina-based game engine developer, Epic Games, announced the opening of a new subsidiary in Japan to support the company's Japanese partners of Unreal Engine 3.

Coating company MetoKote Corporation partners with Tokyo consulting firm Foxmark International
April 14, 2010

Ohio-based coating company, MetoKote Corporation, announced it has entered into a consulting services agreement with Foxmark International, a Tokyo-based management services firm, to expand its coating services to manufacturers in the Asia-Pacific region.

IMAX Corporation increases theatre systems in Japan through expanded joint venture with Tokyu Recreation
April 19, 2010

Entertainment technology company IMAX Corporation announced a new joint venture agreement with Tokyu Recreation, owner of cinemas named '109 Cinemas', to install five digital IMAX(R) theatre systems in Japan. The agreement adds to four IMAX theatres that were installed in 2009. "We are very excited to build on the success of our four current joint venture theatres with Tokyu Recreation, our first major exhibition partner in Japan, one of the most important entertainment markets in the world," said IMAX Chief Executive Office Richard L. Gelfond.

Sales SaaS provider BigMachines establishes Japan subsidiary
April 22, 2010

Provider of sales software-as-a-service (SaaS), BigMachines, Inc., has established a Japan subsidiary and "will enter the Japanese market and commence a full-fledged business roll-out. BigMachines has localized its on-demand software for the Japanese market with support for Japanese language and currencies and has also launched a Japanese website at www.bigmachines.com/jp," states a company press release. The company's Japan business entity, BigMachines Co., Ltd., has received endorsements from two CRM partners in Japan, salesforce.com and Oracle Corporation.

Test solution provider Averna opens regional office in Japan
April 27, 2010

Canadian-based test solution provider, Averna, announced the opening of a regional office in Yokohama, Japan to "solidify the presence of Averna's award-winning test solutions for communications device testing in the Asia-Pacific marketplace," states a company press release.

Broadcast solutions provider Broadcast International receives patent grant in Japan for CodecSys(TM)
April 28, 2010

Utah-based broadcast solutions provider, Broadcast International, announced it received a patent grant from the Japanese Patent Office covering the CodecSys(TM) encoding platform. "The patent is broad in its nature and covers the unique, proprietary system used by CodecSys(TM) to deliver complex video streams over the Internet at bandwidths lower than previously achieved in the marketplace," states a company press release. "The Pacific-Asian region place is extremely difficult to break into without strong technology protection, so we see some exciting opportunities in the horizon with this formal recognition from Japan's Patent Office," said company President and CEO Rod Tiede.
