The "World Smart Cities Forum 2011" in Austin, Texas is the first-ever roundtable between the U.S. and Japan to discuss developing a global business model for future Smart Cities using Smart Grid technologies.  There are numerous Smart Cities projects launching now and this Forum will deliver to the world some of the innovative ideas for future smart cities models.  Smart City projects are not only being developed in the U.S., Japan and in Europe but emerging countries as well.  It has been estimated that the value of this market will be worth a cumulative total of more than $310 billion through the year 2030.  JETRO-Houston is a supporting organization with the City of Austin, Austin Chamber of Commerce, Austin Energy, NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization), Marubeni America Corporation, Tiga Energy Services,TCCX (Texas Climate & Carbon Exchange), and CCET (Center for the Commercialization of Electric Technologies).
