SPOTLIGHT JAPAN II: Perspectives on Marketing & Relationship

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 9:00AM - 11:30AM
ENGLISH
JETRO Event

The Center for International Studies, University of Missouri-St. Louis, The Japan America Society of St. Louis, the Chicago office of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association (RCGA) are excited to present, Spotlight Japan II: Perspectives on Marketing & Relationship Building in the Business Community.

Spotlight Japan is designed to examine the Japanese economy and business culture from a number of different viewpoints.  The program will begin with Muneo Takashi, Chief Executive Director of JETRO Chicago.  JETRO is the official overseas trade promotion and business development agency of the Japanese government.  With almost twenty-five years of experience, Mr. Takashi will discuss the Japanese economy and the role of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Japan.

As the former Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald's Japan and former Marketing Director of Kellogg’s Japan, Ken Kabira is uniquely qualified to explain how to build and sustain global brand marketing and how his teams dealt with the issue of brand consistency and localization in Japan's extremely competitive consumer market. Mr. Kabira is one of the few people in North America with the knowledge and depth of experience in marketing to the "Japanese Consumer." Perhaps more importantly, he has the ability to clearly communicate these attributes. We are confident in saying this will be the best presentation on marketing in Japan you may ever experience.

How does one develop a business relationship in Japan?  Without doubt, this issue has been a conundrum for us all.  However, few people in the U.S are more qualified to speak on this issue than Steven Gan, President of Stellar Risk Management Services Inc, who spent fifteen years in Tokyo growing his own company.  Mr. Gan will share his insights and unique experience on building business relationships in Japan.  A compelling presentation is guaranteed.

For companies interested in establishing a business presence in Japan, or expanding an existing operation, one-on-one consultations will be available.  Advance registration is required.

This special event will be held at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, on Thursday, August 28th at the Millennium Student Center, One University Boulevard.  Registration begins with a continental breakfast at 8:30 AM, with the program to follow from 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM.  Participation is free.  To register, complete the form below and fax it to 312-832-6066.  Questions?  Please contact Robert Corder, JETRO Chicago at 312-832-6024.  Visiting the University of Missouri-St. Louis Monday - Friday requires a parking permit: please indicate on your registration whether you will need a permit so that a permit can be mailed to you.
