Yokohama City University California Office Inaugural Seminar

Yokohama City University is scheduled to open its first overseas branch office located within Marubeni America Corporation's Silicon Valley Office in order to enhance its international academic-industrial collaboration by developing research in various fields, especially in medicine, bio-technology and nano-technology.

In commemoration of the California Branch Office opening, YCU and Marubeni America are proud to announce a memorial seminar to be held on Thursday, 1st November 2007 from 5:30pm - 9:00pm at the HYATT REGENCY SANTA CLARA. This seminar is supported by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in San Francisco and the Consulate General of Japan.

After special opening remarks by Hiroshi Nakada, Mayor of Yokohama City, there will be presentations from two YCU faculty members about their unique research projects and YCU's industrial collaborations. This will be followed by a panel discussion among the participants listed below on:
1) The Melting Pot as Innovation Crucible
2) Infrastructure as a Determinant of Science and Technology Development in Silicon Valley
