Konarka Technologies Establishes Japan Office with Focus on BIPV and BAPV Segments
Konarka Technologies, Inc. develops polymer-based, organic photovoltaic (OPV) technology. Based in Lowell, Mass., the company was established in 2001 by a team of scientists from the University of Massachusetts based on technology developed by Dr. Alan Heeger, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in the year 2000. Its current focus is on the building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) and building-attached photovoltaic (BAPV) segments, and it recently opened an office in Japan to take advantage of the opportunities there.
