As of 2010, the Japanese mobile content market was an impressive $8.4 billion. With the introduction of smartphones, the market is set to grow even further. Last year, sales of smartphones in Japan quadrupled. As a result of this rapid popularization, the market for smartphone specific content is expected to reach $3 billion by 2012. The rise of smartphones in Japan creates a unique opportunity for US application developers, online services providers, and social media companies to enter the Japanese market via this global platform.

This seminar will discuss recent trends and business opportunities in Japan's growing mobile internet market and how it relates to IT companies in the US.
