JETRO 4th Tuesday Technology Exchange: Dynamic Tinnitus Mitigation Treatment

Tuesday, March 25, 2003, 9:00AM - 5:00PM
ENGLISH
JETRO Event

Anthony Materna is the President and CEO of Tinnitus Mitigation Systems Company and Partner in ACODA Technology and Investments, LLC. ACODA facilitates large business transactions between the United States and Far East. Dr. Materna was the President of Data Integration Solutions Corp. for ten years until the company was acquired. He is also a co-founder of Digital Sonics, LLC, new technology in Hi-Fi sound, and a partner in a startup called HyperSound LLC, with breakthrough technology for hearing impaired, a potential market of 500 million users.

Michael Petroff is the Chairman of the Board and Director of Technology, Tinnitus Mitigation Systems, LLC. Mr. Petroff has over 35 years experience in inventing, researching, developing, patenting, and successfully licensing specialized audio signal processing technologies and systems for medical applications, home and automotive sound systems, and commercial retail store environments. He invented, conducted research and developed DTM tinnitus mitigation sound technology.

The Presentation

Elevator Pitch Tinnitus, or chronic ringing in the ears, can be emotionally debilitating and effects over ten million people in the US alone, and yet no treatment is considered effective by the vast majority of medical practitioners. As a consequence, a huge untapped worldwide market, estimated to exceed one billion dollars, exists for a practical and effective tinnitus treatment system. The reason this large market has not yet been penetrated is simply that no previous system is supported by convincing clinical evidence needed for acceptance by the medical community. Mike Petroff, an accomplished audio technology inventor and licensor who has severe tinnitus, developed and refined the most highly acclaimed FDA-cleared treatment of tinnitus using applied sound. The sound treatment and system, called Dynamic Tinnitus Mitigation, or DTM, was recently shown to be twice as effective at reducing tinnitus annoyance as any other sound treatment tested in a first-of-its-kind clinical study sponsored by the US Veterans Administration. DTM systems are now uniquely qualified and positioned to broadly capitalize on the worldwide tinnitus treatment market, and to do so without viable competition. More advanced DTM systems, based on existing DTM sound formats, will also be tested in additional Veterans Administration studies and by other leading researchers.
