Japan Lecture Series: Defining the Economic Challenges of East Asia

The Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, University of Minnesota, the Japan America Society of Minnesota, the Minnesota Trade Office/Minnesota Department of Employment & Economic Development and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO Chicago) are pleased to present "Defining the Economic Challenges of East Asia."

The program will explore a number of themes including the state of Japan's economy and the economic relationship between the United States and Japan; perspectives on the pace and depth of East Asian economic integration; and the challenges that China's rapid economic growth poses for the U.S. and Japan.

Featured speakers will include Dr. Edward J. Lincoln, Director of the Center for Japan-U.S. Business and Economic Studies and Professor of Economics at New York University's Stern School of Business and Takashi Tsuchiya, Chief Executive Director of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO Chicago).  Robert T. Kudrle, the Freeman Chair of International Economic Policy at the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, will comment on the presentations then lead a Question & Answer session. 

Advanced registration for this event is required.  The registration fee is $20 for members of the Japan America Society of Minnesota (JASM) and $25 for non-members and guests, which includes a continental breakfast.  Registration for faculty and students is complimentary.  Registration can be made through the JASM office by calling 612-627-9357 or by email to jasm@us-japan.org. Payment can be made by check, payable to "JASM" or by credit card. Reservations are due no later than February 20, 2008.

Parking for this event will be available in the 19th Street Parking Ramp, across from the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
