APEC Seminar on Infrastructure Investment

Saturday, September 17, 2011, 9:00AM - 5:45PM
ENGLISH
Third-Party Event
Organization Name: APEC

As a part of the implementation of the APEC Strategy for Investment, adopted by APEC Leaders in 2010, this seminar aims to provide APEC member economies with the necessary insight to create investment opportunities in the area of infrastructure. It is also intended to serve as a follow-up to the APEC Public Private Dialogue on Investment, which was held on the margins of IEG1 in Washington, D.C. in 2011 and highlighted infrastructure development through improvements in the investment climate.

Key objectives of the seminar are the following:

  • Share Information: The current state of infrastructure in the region and a comprehensive regional development plan will be introduced through a presentation by an international body and/or academic. Individual needs for infrastructure in member economies will also be presented.
  • Coordinate with relevant APEC works: Through discussion in the Seminar and its follow-up, relevant APEC works such as the APEC Supply-Chain Connectivity Framework Action Plan on transport infrastructure, Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) infrastructure projects at the APEC Finance Minister Process, and the APEC Architect and APEC Engineer programmes may be appropriately coordinated with possible future IEG works.
  • Implement the APEC Strategy for Investment: The seminar will provide an effective forum allowing for intensive and direct discussions to identify possible ways to promote investment in the infrastructure sector in the APEC region. The outcome of the event will be conveyed directly to the IEG in order to incorporate them into IEG activities, implementing the APEC Strategy for Investment.

Advance registration is required. Registration deadline is August 24, 2011.
