JETRO Event
As part of Anime Focus 2007, JETRO Chicago would like to invite you to three US screening debuts of Japanese Anime films at the 43rd Chicago International Film Festival. With anime's increasing popularity globally and across the Midwest, JETRO is excited to feature the debuts of "Girl Who Leapt Through Time" (Toki Wo Kakeru Shojo), "Brave Story", and "Atagoal: Cat's Magical Forest" (Atagoal Wa Neko No Mori) at the Film Festival.
Mamoru Hosoda, the director of "Girl Who Leapt Through Time" will be at the screening debuts of his film on October 5th and 7th to answer questions from the audience and offer insights on his film. "Girl Who Leapt Through Time" is considered among the sweetest of the anime & manga invasion by the creators at Studio Ghibli, the premiere animation studio in Japan.
In addition to the anime films, the Film Festival is also featuring two Japanese films, "Matsugane Potshot Affair" and "Strawberry Shortcakes". Hiroshi Yazaki, director of "Strawberry Shortcakes", will be at the screening debuts of his poignant, painful but real film, which has been described as Tokyo's version of "Sex and the City."
