ENGLISH
JETRO Event
Tsuyoshi Saotome, Ph.D., Aerospace Engineering
AeroMod Engineering Inc.
Founder and President, Space Tourism Society Japan
Background:
Human space flight activities had been dominated by the US and Russian government for almost four decades. Since the collapse of the former Soviet Union in 1990, China, India, Europe, and Japanese governments have pursued their own manned space projects. In the US, a dynamic shift from government to private companies is currently occurring and the space tourism industry is about to emerge. During his presentation, Dr. Saotome will introduce visual images of the latest human space activities performed by governments and private sectors. He will talk about the effect of the space tourism industry in technology, education, business, and various other industries. Finally, he will conclude his presentation by sharing his long-time dream of building an orbital space resort that he plans to achieve during his lifetime.
Tsuyoshi Saotome received his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles in June 2009. He originally worked at Kawasaki Heavy Industries as an aircraft structure analysis engineer, before moving to the US in 2001 to expand his opportunites in the Space Tourism Industry, where he now works at AeroMod Engineering, Inc.
In 2004, he became the founder and president of the Space Tourism Society Japan, a not-for-profit organization. His next goal is to establish a firm foundation in the US aerospace industry, in order to realize his dream.
