Background:
With the passage of AB32 in California, the state is strengthening environmental requirements on businesses. Meanwhile the two major presidential candidates, Barack Obama and John McCain, have plans for reducing U.S. green house gas emissions. It is now a matter if of when, not if, your business will need to go green.
Phil Friedman, Western Regional Manager of Perry Johnson Registrars (PJR), will present on today's hot topic of Environmental Management Systems (ISO Standard 14001), as the primary tool to prove that your company is green. Standards such as ISO 14001 play an important role in helping companies go green by providing requirements and guidance to companies on limiting their environmental impact and improving environmental performance. The goal of the ISO 14001 standard is to give the top management of any organization a framework for managing environmental impacts and it is the fastest growing standard in the U.S. and worldwide. Friedman will discuss how it has helped some of PJR's clients and he will also touch on the future of greenhouse gas emissions verification/validation and carbon trading.
