Messaging solutions company 29West forms strategic partnership with INTERTRADE in Japan
January 4, 2010

29West, Inc., provider of messaging solutions, announced a partnership with INTERTRADE Co., Ltd., a provder of packaged systems for the securities industry, to "use 29West products in the development of the INTERTRADE next-generation securities dealing and trading systems," states a company press release.

Sbarro Enters Joint Venture/Franchise Agreement With JCI Inc. to Open 1,250 Restaurants in Japan
January 19, 2010

Sbarro announced its aggressive expansion into the Japanese market. Sbarro has partnered with JCI Inc. in a joint venture/franchise agreement that includes the opening of 1,250 units over a twenty-year period. "...In Tokyo, we've seen an immediate and powerful response from consumers who have already very warmly embraced the Sbarro brand," the company press release quotes Sbarro President and CEO Peter Beaudrault saying.

Law firm K&L Gates continues international expansion with offices in Tokyo and Moscow
January 19, 2010

After opening offices last year in Frankfurt, Singapore, and Dubai, law firm K&L Gates LLP announced the establishment of new offices in Tokyo and Moscow. The press release states, "The lawyers in the firm's Tokyo office initially will focus in the corporate and international finance, mergers & acquisitions, banking, private equity, real estate acquisitions, licensing and distribution arrangements, and general corporate and employment law areas, and will receive support from other members of K&L Gates' extensive Asia practice, which totals approximately 200 lawyers firmwide."

United BioSource Corporation Opens Japan Office
February 3, 2010

United BioSource Corporation (UBC) announced the opening of an office in Tokyo, Japan. The medical and scientific affairs organization "partners with manufacturers of biopharmaceuticals and medical devices to develop and commercialize their products." A company press release states that "personnel in the new UBC office will support the company's investigator training and certification solutions as well as ongoing clinical research monitoring services in the region."
