| ABsize |
Incubator: BIC
Industry: Pharma / Biotech
Core Technology: Pharma industry, under great pressure of product patent expiry and generic competition, is urgently looking for best life cycle management strategy. Many marketed drugs and developing candidates have poor water-solubility and/or permeability.
LiNTEC has been developed in Professor Masuhara’s Lab of Osaka University. LiNTEC is a platform technology that prepares long term stable nanoparticles of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API), resulting in greatly increased surface area and much improved solubility. Particle size is tunable and typically ranging from 1 to 300 nm. It is an effective solution for poor water-solubility problem and enables the product opportunities of new formulation and delivery format.
ABsize Inc. is a nanotechnology / nanomedicine company. Using its proprietary technology platform, Laser-induced Nanolization Technology (LiNTEC), ABsize is developing a novel nano-drug product pipeline, and partnering with pharma / biotech companies to developing their new products. LiNTEC is a non-thermal and non-contact physical process to nanolize poorly water-soluble molecules without chemical change, thereby increasing water solubility, improving bioavailability, and creating new formulations and delivery route.

| CSE Secure Systems, Inc. |
Incubator: BIC
Industry: IT Security: matrix authentication solution/one time password
Core Technology: SECUREMATRIX is a unique matrix authentication system developed by CSE (Computer Systems Engineering Co., Ltd.); CSE Secure Systems, Inc. will market the SECUREMATRIX solution in North America.
The SECUREMATRIX authentication solution requires no physical devices such as tokens or IC cards. Instead, each time a user logs in it displays a different set of 64 randomly selected numbers arranged as a matrix table. When first entered into the system, each user chooses an easily remembered pattern and input order with which to select numbers from the table. Application of this pattern and order produces a unique, one time password at each login. Compared to a fixed password solution, which is easily guessed or stolen, our one time password solution dramatically improves security. A steadily increasing number of clients has adopted SECUREMATRIX, with use centering mainly around strengthening authentication during remote access application(As of the end of December 2008, approximately 600 companies with more than 500,000 users had adopted SECUREMATRIX.)Many organizations also use SECUREMATRIX as a solution for strengthening authentication measures in a thin client environment; more and more organizations are adopting thin client systems to cope with pandemic situations or to prevent information leakage as an extension of internal control for risk and business continuity management. In addition, SECUREMATRIX is Windows log-in ready and strengthens authentication during the process. Our clients are very satisfied with SECUREMATRIX and regard it as a uniform authentication infrastructure that reduces administrative effort and operational costs dramatically.
Potential Customers/Partners: CSE Secure Systems,Inc. will work with both individual and institutional clients who need to access their proprietary data, files or networks easily, securely and cost effectively through the Internet or via Windows login. We also welcome partners who will incorporate SECUREMATRIX into their applications. |

| Nota Inc. |
Incubator: BIC
Industry: Information Technology and Services
Core Technology: NOTA, Inc., incorporated in December 2007, was created with the express purpose of starting a web-based services company that allows users to manipulate personal and publicly available digital content in any manner they choose. Projects involving NOTA Portal can be uniquely personal, or may be done in a collaborative sense – allowing multiple users the opportunity to remotely work on the same design project until its conclusion is reached. It will also allow others to build off the work of others to create an entirely new end-product.
With the advent of YouTube, Facebook, and Myspace, there is significant interest in "mashing-up" content (the act of taking audio, video, print and still content and combining into one format) from diverse areas into a final end product and displaying it on the web for the world to see. NOTA will soon be the ideal tool for all to use in performing this process.
Potential Customers/Partners: Specifically, NOTA will first target student users. The rationale for pursuing this group of users is based on the hypothesis that NOTA's collaborative functionality will be a great fit with student activities, both academic and social. It is expected that university students, with their strong exposure to innovative Web companies and services, will provide an ideal beachhead for NOTA to acquire the initial group of core users well as providing valuable market information. |
