June 2006 – The semiconductors market in Japan reached a value of $46.5 billion in 2005, with integrated circuits making up 83.1%, or $38.6 billion, and discrete circuits making up 16.9%, or $7.9 billion.

Japan represents the largest semiconductors market in the Asia-Pacific, generating 33.1% of regional revenues, and is also the single largest country in the world for the manufacture and sales of semiconductors and related products.  It represents 20.6% of the global market compared to the 19% of the United States and 18.7% of Europe.
