Registration now available for U.S. and Japanese Technology Companies to Take Part in One-On-One Partnership Discussions

(LAS VEGAS, OCTOBER 31, 2005)--The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) today announced registration is open for companies to take part in its personalized business matching program during the annual International Consumer Electronics Show to take place January 5-8 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The program provides North American technology companies interested in establishing a business presence in Japan with direct access to leading Japanese companies. Past participants in the program include industry leaders such as Epson, Sony, Hitachi, Toshiba, and Matsushita/Panasonic.

The JETRO Business Matching @ CES 2006 program facilitates one-on-one pre-arranged business meetings between program participants and Japanese companies by providing North American firms qualified introductions to some of the world's most distinguished consumer electronics companies. During the 2004 and 2005 CES business-partnering programs, more than 50 U.S. and Japanese companies participated for a total of more than 80 meetings. Following the introductions by JETRO, several North American participants went on to forge business relationships with Japanese partners, including many signed partnerships.

"Last year we participated in JETRO Business Matching @ CES 2005 to explore opportunities for technology collaboration," said Masuo Kitano, Senior Manager at Epson Research and Development, Inc. "Over the span of just two days, we conducted meetings with several venture companies. JETRO facilitated the entire process, introducing us to pre-screened, highly qualified organizations whose offerings were well-aligned with our interests and objectives. It is an excellent way to quickly and efficiently identify innovative partners for future collaboration."

This year, Japanese companies are searching for innovative technologies from North American firms in the ICT and consumer electronics industry sectors, with backgrounds including, but not limited to, the following technologies: VoIP, RFID, Wireless & Wireless Security, Security Solutions, Digital TV Technologies, Consumer Electronics, Mobile Applications/Contents, Home Networking, Network Appliances, Advanced Software Solutions (Consumer and Enterprise) and Emerging Technologies.

Through free programs and services such as these, JETRO provides strong support to North American companies looking for successful entry and expansion in the Japanese market. JETRO also holds a similar business matching event every year in Japan at Asia's largest IT trade show, CEATEC JAPAN.

"Business partnerships between U.S. and Japanese firms continue to flourish, producing some of the world's most recognizable technologies and products," said Masahiko Hosokawa, president of JETRO's New York office. "JETRO's focus on facilitating mutually beneficial meetings between U.S. and Japanese companies at CES helps fuel economic growth for both counties in fields like consumer electronics, wireless, and more. We look forward to helping these companies achieve success in their goals for partnership and expansion."

At CES 2006, JETRO's business matching program will take place in the International Commerce Center at the Hilton Hotel. The application deadline for companies to participate in this program is November 25, 2005.
