During last year's JETRO BioMission to Japan,
over 100 companies and organizations participated. Here's what a few of
them had to say. | Ray Briscuso Executive Director Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) http://www.bio.org/ | "I
participated in JETRO's BioMission to Japan in 2004 and found it to be
a very beneficial business development opportunity. JETRO helped set up
meetings with companies, government officials and press and made the
entire experience a pleasure."

| | Michael S. Haller Senior Director, Corporate Development Halozyme Therapuetics, Inc. http://www.halozyme.com/ | "For
the business matching meetings, JETRO assisted Halozyme in identifying
appropriate partners, scheduled meetings, and provided interpreters to
facilitate communication of scientific and business ideas; this
professionally-run conference led to at least one meaningful
collaboration for us with a Japanese partner. We hope to attend these
types of meetings in Japan in the future, especially if they are run by
JETRO, who truly was a partner for us.
"Being
able to reach a large Japanese audience through mutual presentations at
the BioLink Forum has raised awareness of Halozyme in Japan and has
likewise kindled Halozyme’s interest in partnering with Japanese
companies. "The organization
of the business matching meetings by JETRO were professionally done,
complete with interpreters, and led to at least one collaboration in
Japan for Halozyme; this meaningful collaboration has endured long past
the conference end." Back to BioMission page | Register for BioMission
| | Jim Alexander, Vice President, Business Development St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association http://www.stlrcga.org/ | "The St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association (RCGA)
participated in JETRO's 2003 Bio Mission to Osaka and the 2004 Bio
Mission to Tokyo . We had a very positive experience at both
events. Specifically, the JETRO staff made sure every aspect of
each mission always flowed smoothly. We found all of their
arrangements to be well-planned and executed. As a result, my
organization was able to focus on our specific goals and be very
productive during both trips. The JETRO staff also supported us
in our plans to meet with top Japanese pharmaceutical and biotech firms
in Osaka and Tokyo. That support allowed us to hold a number of
very productive meetings with top executives.
"Another
big benefit of these missions was the opportunity to meet top
scientists and researchers in some of the most distinguished biotech
institutions in Japan. These visits revealed the cutting edge
technology and science being developed in Japan today. Seeing
some of the new facilities (in Kobe for example) helped us to
understand the strong commitment the Japanese government has to the
growth and success of the biotech industry in their country. “In short, if you are considering joining the 2005 Mission to Yokohama, I would strongly recommend you participate." Back to BioMission page | Register for BioMission |
