Mission seeks to increase partnerships between U.S. and Japanese firms in Tokyo and Greater Nagoya Regions

SAN FRANCISCO, March 1 2005)– The recent upbeat in the Japanese economy has created new business opportunities for U.S. companies in the Japanese market. To provide a forum for companies to take advantage of these exciting new opportunities, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) will organize a mission to the Tokyo and Greater Nagoya Regions in May 2005. The purpose of the mission is to offer American companies the opportunity to identify and meet with channels partners, establish partnerships and penetrate the Japanese market cost effectively.

This mission will specifically focus on the innovative industries whose companies and technologies closely match current growth opportunities in the Japanese market. These industries include information and communications technology (ICT), biomedical, automotive , and environmental technologies.

"Given the recent increases in U.S.-Japan business partnerships, there could not be a more opportune time to hold this mission.", said Naoyuki Haraoka, Chief Executive Director of JETRO's San Francisco office. "We hope that the partnerships resulting from this business mission will lead to new and exciting innovations that will fuel the future economic prosperity of our two nations."

The mission will take place from May 15 to May 21, 2005 in Japan’s Tokyo and Nagoya regions. This mission is being co-organized by METI (the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry), the Embassy of the United States, the US Department of State, GNI (the Greater Nagoya Initiative), and Chiba Prefecture.
