How Aligo connected with JETRO for success
in the Japanese market

March 2005

Opportunities in Japan
Aligo is a world leading supplier of mobile solutions for enterprises. The market for mobile devices in Japan is one of the strongest anywhere in the world. In Japan, more people access the Internet via mobile phone than computer, and the adoption rate for new wireless technology is faster in Japan than anywhere else. With a world's second largest market, fast adoption rate, and an informed group of consumers, Japan is one of the key world markets for Aligo.

Market Entry
Aligo targeted Japan as its first overseas market, signing its first Japanese distributor in early 2002. As business grew in Japan, it became clear that the company needed to establish a local branch office. Aligo took advantage of JETRO's IBSC service “ free temporary office space “ and focused on attracting new clients and distributors. Aligo opened its Tokyo branch in May 2003, the company's first overseas office. Aligo then established a full subsidiary, Aligo Japan KK, in April 2004.

Results and Outlook
Business in Japan has been robust. Aligo KK counts many top Japanese companies among its customers, including Tech Matrix, Nippon Telematique, and Kanematsu. Since establishing it's Japanese subsidiary, business has surged in Asia. With robust sales in Japan, China and Korea, the region now accounts for 40% of the company's revenue.
